DEFINITIONS: SECURITY

What is Security?

• ‘Freedom from anxiety’. I.e. to be safe.
• It encapsulates the degree of protection deployed by any given entity to guard     against danger, damage, loss, and crime.
• It also includes all procedures followed     or measures taken to ensure safety.

HEALTH

• What is Health?
• Health is the level of functional or metabolic efficiency of a living organism. In humans, it is the general condition of a person’s mind and body, usually meaning to be free from illness, injury or pain

SAFETY

• What is safety?
• Safety is the state of being “safe”, the condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm or any other event which could be considered …

ENVIRONMENT

What is Environment?

• the surroundings of a physical system that may interact with the system by exchanging mass, energy, or other properties.
• the aggregate of surrounding things, conditions, or influences; surroundings; milieu.  

Is security, health and safety possible without the environment?

What can we do to enhance a secured, safe and healthy environment

• Reducing Carbon footprints
• Effective waste management
• Safety and environmental consciousness

Conclusion

• The environment represents our core habitat
• Man was created to be one with his environment or to maintain a symbiotic relationship with all organism
• Human activities have changed the equilibrium such that the environment is now at risk
• We have a responsibility to restore the equilibrium for the sake of our specie.
